Biography: « A development in the dazzling planet of sands: « this
smooth rock on which we float » said Théodore Monod … dance of the infinite,
infinite of the desert… place of interaction between the human body and its
immediate environment.
Six young dancers performed a great show created and choreographed
by Véronique Ben Ahmed "Les Roses de Sable". Six women arrive in the
desert and evolve in the rhythm of the four elements, symbolized by some materials.
Thus, during one hour Véronique Ben Ahmed and her 5 dancers dress themselves
with blue or fire. "Les Roses de Sable" start with the sound of an
Oriental story, that the dancers illustrate thanks to an ochre stole, such as a
sand dune in the desert… With naked feet, freed, offered to voluptuousness,
softness, tiny things facing a blond and creamy universe covered, dressed by
the evening, adding a satin, phosphorescence finish with shadows, some vagabonds
stopped in a corner of sand sea… turn, sway, shake in the rhythm of the four
elements. Like nature, which is made of curves, roundness, and which sometimes
upset us with its trembling. Circular aspect of this dance symbolized by the 8,
sign of the infinite, liaised with the infinite of the desert, place of the interaction
between the human body and its immediate environment. »
Choregraphy for 6 dancers by Véronique BEN AHMED

Biography: The compagnie GUILILI is a company of contemporary dance which stresses a mix of
African, European and Amerianc dances. All this becomes special thanks to
how easily the choreographer assosciates dance with contemporary sounds with
African music instruments such as Ndjembè, balafon, castanets.
In June 2008 the Choreographer-Dancer Marc Bertrand
MOADA YAKANA notes bitterly that Mbam dance and the culture of Mbam department
(from where he is) has been dying because young people seem to be not
interested anymore in art in general and dance in particular.
With the Compagnie GUILILI, the project YAKANA is born
thanks to the Choreographer-Dancer Marc Bertrand MOADA YAKANA. According to him, dance is the rhythm of
life in all Africa, in Cameroon and
Mbam. Thus, he gathered his brother, two uncles with whom the project started
to be developed in order first to defend the family inheritage and then the
cultural inheritage of Africa through block
contemporary dance. The project YAKANA was created in November 2008 and
January; called nihang^ in Yambassa (Noutchoula) language which means dance. The
project performed for the first time in January 2009 in the Centre Culturel
Français François Villon in Yaoundé and was a real success; today the project
is asked for in several festivals in Cameroon and in Africa.
